Statement Regarding Appointment of Interim Town Manager

  • September 15, 2026
At its meeting on Monday, September 14, the Lincoln Town Council appointed me to serve as Interim Town Manager, effective September 15, 2026. I will continue serving as Lincoln’s Police Chief while carrying out the duties and responsibilities of Interim Town Manager.
I will work with outgoing Town Manager Wade Schaefer during the transition period before his departure on Friday, September 18.
I want to personally thank Wade for his service to the Town of Lincoln. I know many of our employees share my appreciation for the level-headed, supportive, and common-sense approach he brought to the position. Wade has been a steady and thoughtful leader, and we greatly appreciate the work he accomplished during his time with the Town. Although we are sorry to see him leave, we understand his decision and wish him the very best.
Our immediate priority is to provide steady leadership, support our employees, and maintain the community’s confidence in Town government. Lincoln has a strong team of department heads and employees, and I look forward to working with them to ensure Town services continue without interruption.
During Monday’s meeting, the Town Council also authorized hiring the Maine Municipal Association to assist with recruiting and selecting Lincoln’s next permanent Town Manager. That process is expected to take place over the coming months.
During this transition, we will focus on maintaining stability, strengthening communication, and providing clear and consistent direction for Town operations. I appreciate the confidence the Town Council has placed in me, and I look forward to working with the Council, our employees, and the community as we move forward together.
